It's no secret business operations and security tend to collide. Think about it, one is limiting the other, not to mention the extra work added to a business' tech teams, but the biggest factor is something that might surprise you.
Here is the secret why
Lack of accountability. Tech teams are often not being measured on their level of security nor mandated to follow a security plan with measurable KPIs.
We can't blame them, they work around the clock to develop the money making machine - the product.
On top of all this, they tend to feel quite comfortable having 24x7 professional security operations to detect and mitigate cyber security incidents that arise, in other words "cleanup". Sounds familiar?
The winning strategy you should apply
Leading security operations within a business can sometimes raise a feel of frustration. On one hand your security operations & incident response teams work hard to increase visibility, monitor thousands of alerts, develop new detection logic, automate detection & response and reduce TTD TTR (time to detect & time to respond). On the other hand constantly aiming to reduce attack surface, implemnting incidents aftermath (leassons learnt)
